it's time for apple crumble
fruit crumbles, the world's easiest baking and so good with any kind of fruit. i bake crumbles for dessert the whole year round with whatever fruit is in season. think buttery pears with ginger in early fall, cranberries with apples in winter, rhubarb in early spring or strawberries with rhubarb at the beginning of summer. in summer i use cherries, apricots with lemon zest, nectarines or peaches, so delicious together with raspberries, plums, they make a fantastic crumble with cinnamon, and summer berries of any kind are wonderful too.

countryhouse in chianti
on a hilltop between florence and siena, 5 km from castellina in the region chianti you'll find this casa colonica, typical farmer house, owned by federica fusi and her daughter zoe. they decided to live in the countryside in an authentic and peaceful place surrounded by nature and where they could develop their idea of starting a b&b. the original unit of this house is mediaval whereas the exterior aspect is from 1766. basically federica wanted to find a house exactly with these characteristics and where no modernisation has transformed this original identity in order to set up this alternative form of countryside tourism; agrifuturismo. images: nathalie krag via taverne agency. click on read more to see more of this amazing place in italy.

baking shouldn’t be reserved for special occasions. even when it feels like you’re too busy to turn on the oven—or “you’re not a baker”—homemade treats are within reach. that’s why amanda & merill, of food blog food52, filled this book with 60 of their families’ and community members’ go-to, anytime recipes, as well as stunning photography by james ransom and tips that come from generations’ worth of kitchen wisdom.
they want baking to be the most flour-caked, milk-splattered book in your collection. because these recipes won’t have you hunting for obscure ingredients or equipment or cleaning up a huge mess, you’ll be able—and want—to make them over and over again. and while they’re within reach, they’re certainly not run-of-the-mill: think buttermilk dutch baby with caramelized pears, blueberry cream torte, and savory greens galette.
we can't wait to get started...

aceto balsamico giuseppe giusti
we are in modena in the region of emilia romagna, visiting giuseppe giusti. the house was founded in 1605, making them the oldest makers of aceto balsamico in modena. their acetaia is on the outskirts of modena, contained in one big three storey house. the building itself has undergone several restorations, but it is the same house in which the company was founded, almost 400 years ago. much of the ground floor is used for the bottling and packaging of the final product and large three metre tall copper barrels use up the rest of this otherwise sterile and modern area. images: mikkel vang and christine rudolph via taverne agency. posted by nathalie

one of the owner's requests was to use as much white as possible to create a bright, but not too cold end result. for anouk brands, interior designer from anoukb interieur, it was a nice challenge to restyle this apartment in amsterdam in the neighbourhood where her roots are. anouk used mainly bleached oak to give the place a warm character. marjon hoogervorst via taverne agency photographed the apartment. posted by nathalie

named after the restaurant nopi in soho, london, this is the most 'chef-ish' cookbook of all ottolenghi cookbooks, written in collaboration with nopi's head chef ramael scully, who's asian background results in an interesting 'fusion' twist to the typical ottolenghi style. think sumac meets star anise and miso meets molasses. however, the recipes are real restaurant-style, great for an impressive restaurant-style dinner-party of for recreating you favorite recipes from nopi, like courgette and manouri fritters, coriander seed-crusted burrata with slices of blood orange or twice cooked baby chicken with leon myrtle, salt and chili jam. wow.......
but, if you're more interested in home style cooking i would recommand jerusalem, written in collaboration with sami tamimi, about the kitchen of their youth as an israelian and a palestinian in jerusalem. posted by leonoor
