home baked cookies 
images: robbert koene and liezel norval kruger via taverne agency, raspberry cookies, using a recipe of paul lowe after the break, this is a basic simple cookie recipe that never fails to please.
1 stick/113g salted butter
1 cup/200g sugar
1 large free range egg
2 cups/260g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
raspberry or strawberry jam
preheat oven to 350 ºf/180 ºc
in a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy. 
add the egg and beat it well into the mixture. 
add flour, baking powder and vanilla extract and mix until combined. 
wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before use. 
roll out to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured surface. 
cut out flower shaped cookies and transfer to a parchment paper-covered baking tray. 
cut out a smaller star shape in half of the cookies. 
bake for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until just golden, cool on a wire rack. 
serve with 1/2 teaspoon jam in the middle of two cookies and sprinkled with powered sugar
makes about 30 cookies.
