smoked fish factory in brooklyn
the acme smoked fish corporation started in the early 1900's when russian emigrant harry brownstein arrived in new york. after working his way up from a wagon jobber, picking up fresh, hot fish from the smokehouses with his horse drawn wagon and delivering them to stores all over new york, eventually harry's dream came true; owning his own smokehouse in brooklyn. and after almost 120 years the acme smokehouse is still on the same address. more pics after the break. images: colin cooke and paul lowe via taverne agency.
