every saturday there is a well-known flea market in brooklyn, new york . a wonderful place to walk around. i was there with my family but better to go alone or with a good friend because you need time! so many nice stuff, mainly vintage clothes and small things. after that we went to williamsburg to a food market so called smorgasburg for having a nice lunch. all the hip people get together there for having a good time with good food. you can buy all sorts of food, italian, mexican, american, vietnamese etc. it takes place every saturday, sun or rain it doesn't matter, go there!

go camping a la seventies. and although cooking needs to be simple when camping, that doesn't mean you can't cook a great meal, penne with courgette for instance, easy, fast and delicious
photo: hans zeegers.

3 courgette, coarsely grated
1 dried chili pepper
3 garlic cloves, crushed
500 gr penne
grated parmesan
olive oil
black pepper & sea salt

heat the oil in a frying pan and gently fry the grated courgettes with the crumbled chili pepper, for about 3 minutes. add the garlic, cook for another minute than add pepper and salt. remove from the heat and set aside.
cook the penne according to the package directions. drain the pasta, reserve a little of the cooking water. combine pasta and courgette, add a bit of the cooking water if needed, stir in a handful of parmesan and serve with more parmesan.

an exhibition charting the influence of punk on high fashion has opened at the metropolitan museum of art in new york last thursday. aiming to examine the relationship between 1970s anarchic subculture and fashion today, vintage punk outfits are shown alongside contemporary clothing by brands such as alexander mcqueen, martin margiela and karl lagerfeld. photo above; chanel by david sims, 2011
and i so love this image of anna wintour as a punk from the ny mag, considered as an alternate cover for a series of articles related to the exhibition.
